Most of us have been going to AT&T Park, home of the San Francisco Giants, since its opening in 2000 for the on-field action, but on Wednesday night, June 25, you’re invited to come out to ballpark for a whole new level of entertainment, with the park itself as the centerpiece.
So what are we going to do to enjoy an evening on the Bay? Since we’re heading into the Park between a game on Wednesday afternoon and before the Giants gear up for a night game against San Diego on Thursday night, the field itself is a no-fly zone. That means we’re be starting the party up on the Fifth Floor Club Level, where floor-to-ceiling windows look out to the field, and beyond that, McCovey Cove. We’re above the King Street entrance, so there’s a whole urban citified vibe to the setting.
We’ve got everything on tap for a great party: DJ? Check. Dance floor? Check. Beer? Check. Great finger foods? Check and check again. My promise is that everyone gets access to garlic fries while at AT&T Park, because there’s something about the Bay breeze that makes a garlic fry just about the best party snack on earth. But that’s only the beginning! We have tours of the ballpark planned, the potential to open up the visitors’ batting cages (all it takes is a generous sponsor!), and the chance to wander out to the Coke bottle and catcher’s mitt just past Third Base.
There are some unbelievably cool extras planned for key sponsors, such as admission to the all-new and very private Gotham Club which is essentially a speakeasy inside the ball park; the Virgin Flight Deck, a private deck overlooking King Street with outdoor fire pits and wall-to-wall bars…heck, we might even have a set up to let you pose for your own baseball card!
The idea of using AT&T Park as the home for our PCBC Party was hatched one afternoon late last year when Dana Tsubota, Associates Chair of the BIA Bay Area, Barbara Fleming, the Events Director, and myself were hosted by the Giants organization to a behind-the-scenes look at the ballpark.
Located at 24 Willie Mays Plaza, on the corner of Third and King, AT&T Park is a far cry from the Giants old address at Candlestick Park. Engineering studies tilted it ever so slightly from its original location, to reduce the winds that were a trademark of the Candlestick era. The visitor here is more likely to get a waft of garlic fries on a summer breeze than an Arctic blast.
Make sure you mark your calendar for the Party at AT&T Park, Wednesday, June 25, from 9pm – 1am! We’re thrilled with the can-do attitude demonstrated by the Giants, and our goal is let you experience a San Francisco landmark, all dressed up and ready to launch your PCBC experience!
