Our next installment of The San Diego Dish is brought to you by Borre Winckel, President and CEO of the San Diego Building Industry Association. Mr. Winckel was kind enough to offer up some delicious tips on where to get some good dish during your San Diego stay this June.
“I like to go to the GG Lounge at The U.S. Grant at 326 Broadway. It reminds me of the old Persian Club at the Plaza Hotel in NYC, now the Rose Club. Hey, everyone remodels, but the oak paneling is still there! It’s the best cosmopolitan ambiance in the City and they make all the drinks you can think of.
As a lobbyist, my favorite place near City Hall is Dobson’s Bar & Restaurant at 956 Broadway Circle. The bar reminds me of several politico bar’s I frequented in D.C. I highly recommend their French Onion Soup.
Finally, I fell in love with “The Blind Burro” an eclectic Mexican Restaurant of fairly recent vintage at 639 J. Street. Like the other two recommends above, this one is also located in the Gaslamp District. Go for fish dishes like the Achiote Glazed Dorado with fried plantains. The Blind Burro is just simply happening.”
We thank you for the recommendations Mr. Winckel! For you mega-foodies out there, check out this great blog featuring many NEW dishes that can be found throughout San Diego.
