Meet Layne Marceau and Colleen Edwards, the co-chairs of PCBC 2014! Layne and Colleen are excited to put their spin on PCBC this year to help create a show unlike anything you’ve experienced before. Take it from Colleen, who tells us, ”You think you know PCBC; we’re going to knock your socks off, we’re going to surprise you, because we’re going places we just haven’t gone before.” If that doesn’t get you excited about this year’s conference, I don’t know what will! Here is a little more information about our new co-chairs:
Layne Marceau is currently the President of the Northern California Division of Shea Homes and he knows the power of PCBC connections. He tells us, “Many times, the start of something great for our company has started at PCBC.” Layne joined the company in 1995 as Vice President of Finance for the Southern California Division. In 1999, he became Corporate Vice President of Operations and in 2000 he was named President of the Northern California Division.
Layne is a licensed California Certified Public Accountant and Real Estate Broker. He has been a member of the California Building Industry Association since 1995 and served as Chairman of the Association in 2006. He was inducted into the California Homebuilding Foundation Hall of Fame in 2009, and admittedly is a big fan of the PCBC Hall of Fame Dinner. He has been a board member of HomeAid of Northern California since 1995, the 1st Tee of the Tri-Valley since 2005, and the Livermore Performing Arts Center since 2007. Besides the unlimited access to networking opportunities and learning experiences available at PCBC, Layne reminds us that we are going to be in one of California’s most dynamic cities. There is more than just business-as-usual to look forward to. ”Let’s not forget,” Layne says, “we’re in San Francisco…the great restaurants that we have there and then all the parties! The parties that our vendors and industry friends put on for us both Wednesday and Thursday night.”
Colleen Edwards is one of the state’s leading branding and marketing strategists. Her firm, EMC Creative, specializes in placemaking, and works with cities, redevelopment areas and master planned communities throughout the country. In her newest role, she has joined the development team at River Islands, a mixed-use master planned community, as its Marketing Director. As a co-chair of PCBC, Colleen has a fresh outlook on the conference that is simply infectious. She says, ”Almost nothing you remember about PCBC is the same as you remember it. The industry is changing and so are we.”
Colleen is an author and a frequent speaker on such topics as community branding, generational marketing and consumer perceptions of what makes communities livable.
In 2011, Forbes Magazine named Colleen one of Northern California’s “Most Powerful Women in Business;” last October, Builder Magazine named her one of the “25 Most Powerful Women in Homebuilding.” She was inducted in 2006 into the California Homebuilding Foundation’s Hall of Fame for her professional and volunteer work. As someone who has made numerous connections through PCBC, Colleen believes that, ”This is like the best class reunion you’ve ever been to.”
Join us in welcoming this talented and experienced duo to PCBC 2014. We can’t wait to see what great things Layne and Colleen do for this year’s conference. With so many new unique features to look forward to, we can hardly wait to get to San Francisco this year!
